Photos of Carnaval Merida 2014 - February 28, 2014

Beer for sale on the parade grounds.

As the parade approached, palcos stood empty as far as the eye could see.

Even the employees looked bored...

While some of the performers looked depressed...

Open for business, but no one calling.

But the good news is that there was no problem to find a seat in the food court!

The 1920's style rides failed to attract much interest.

Stages became islands of light in the surrounding darkness.

Only the 'Yuri' concert attracted a significant crowd.

Excellent ratio of police to audience at the Salón del Sombrerero.

A 'borracho' failed to realize he was in the 'Family Area'...

While in the 'Adult Area', small children played...

A small yet exclusive crowd enjoyed the entertainment at the Circo de la Música.

Was February 28, 2014, the day the carnival died?
